This blog that I made was actually made for my journalism class. We are studying how news is being communicated and blogs happen to be a big one. So my class was given the task of creating a blog on a specific topic that you knew a lot about and enjoy. I enjoy soccer and know a good deal about soccer so I made a soccer blog. The thing is that before we had blogs we would have to find current events to summarize and give our opinions about them. Now since we have blogs we can do that on our blogs but it’s not related to my blog so I’m asking that when I do current events assigned by my teacher understand to your best abilities!
My first current event that was assigned by my teacher was about social networking sites and how teachers add their students or former students. The article focuses on how the teachers will add students on these sites and end up forming relationships with them. Most of these relationships are friendships yet some are more. Sometimes the teacher even ends up performing illegal acts with the student or upon the student. The link is below this so please read it.
My thoughts on the article were that the overall effect of teachers adding their friends is a good outcome. Teachers are able to give class news over the social networks and have conversations with students to help them. One teacher even says the social networks help him gauge certain students who don’t talk much in class to ask the student questions and see if they are getting the material. There are many cases in which this went wrong. The teacher always gets blamed in the end which really isn’t fair too. I mean the students knew what they were getting into so they should definitely get punished also. Last thing is that even though bad things happen and people get in serious trouble social networking sites are great tools and they should be used.
